Unlike previous GR series models that had a very wide-angle perspective with the angle of view of a KB equivalent 28mm lens, this lens offers a standard 40mm viewing angle in 35mm format. This provides a more natural view with a greater depth effect of the image, and provides a different type of street photography than before. The newly developed optics incorporate two aspherical optical elements in the most effective positions to minimize distortion and chromatic aberration while minimizing the formation of stray light and ghosting when shooting in backlight.
