It stretches very low to allow faster compression of the rod blank, and besides the fact that it has very low water absorption, it also helps to feel the line within reach or in crosswinds. The low water absorption also helps the line stay light and stays in the air longer, lowering the resistance on the line during flight, but the biggest factor in achieving the flight is achieving flight. that the line is clear.
